Pokémon Day – level 3

06-03-2025 07:00

Pokémon Day is celebrated every year on February 27th to mark the release of the original Pokémon games. Fans around the world still love the franchise, which has been popular for 29 years.

At the Pokémon International Championships in London and a Pokémon Center in Singapore, fans shared why they are still engaged. Many grew up with the games, anime, and trading cards and now pass their love for Pokémon to their children.

The Pokémon Company’s CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara, spoke about the future of Pokémon, its legal dispute with Palworld, and the fate of Ash Ketchum. Esports Director Chris Brown explained that Pokémon’s success is due to its focus on friendship and community. Pokémon is one of Japan’s biggest brands, with valuable trading cards and official merchandise. Some fans believe Ash is now living a quiet life, while others imagine him still on adventures. No matter what happens to Pokémon in the future, its dedicated fanbase ensures its lasting popularity.

Difficult words: anime (a style of Japanese film and television animation), dispute (a disagreement or argument), merchandise (products related to a brand, such as toys and clothing).
