Poland shoots down Russian drones – level 2

12-09-2025 15:00

Poland shot down Russian drones that flew into its airspace. The Polish army called this aggression a risk to people’s safety. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said many drones entered Poland, and those that were dangerous were destroyed.

People found parts of the drones near the border, and airports, including Warsaw, closed for a short time. Tusk also said he is in contact with NATO and other allies. Experts say this may be part of Russia’s plan to test or scare NATO. At the same time, defense ministers from Poland and other countries are meeting in London to talk about more help for Ukraine.

Fighting in Donbas continues, where Russia controls most of Luhansk, but Ukraine still holds some big cities in Donetsk.

Difficult words: airspace (the air or sky above a country), aggression (a violent action), ally (a country that supports another one).
