Rice Paper – level 2
In today’s Egypt, people are putting a 5,000-year-old Chinese method into practice. The Al Nafeza Foundation in Cairo makes paper out of rice straw.
This helps lower Cairo’s high pollution levels because people usually burn the straw after a rice harvest, and it also creates jobs for deaf people.
Difficult words: straw (the long thin part of the plant), pollution (bad stuff in the air that comes from cars or burning things), harvest (the time when people get the rice from the field because it is ready), deaf people (deaf people cannot hear).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
