Scarlett Johansson and OpenAI chatbot – level 2

28-05-2024 15:00

Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson felt shocked and angry whenOpenAI used a voice in their chatbot which sounded a lot like hers.

Before the new chatbot model came out last week, Johansson said no to OpenAI’s offer to voice the new chatbot. But many people noticed that the Sky voice was similar to Johansson’s voice in the 2013 film Her. Johansson is now getting legal advice. She was upset that OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, used the word ‘her’ on social media, making it seem like she was the inspiration.

OpenAI said that they would remove the voice and that they didn’t mean to copy Johansson. This issue shows the problem of protecting the rights of people with AI.

Difficult words: legal (within the law), inspiration (a person or thing that influences someone), remove (to take away).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What action did Scarlett Johansson take after noticing the similarity between her voice and the voice used in OpenAI's new chatbot model?
