South Korean doctors protest – level 1

28-02-2024 07:00

South Korean trainee doctors are protesting. They do not want more students in medical schools. Doctors want better pay and less work.

The protest stops hospital work. Hospitals must cancel surgeries. The government wants more students to become doctors. There may not be enough doctors in the future. But current doctors say that there are enough already. They want better money first.

The government tells doctors to go back to work. If not, they may have problems. But the fight may continue for a long time.

Difficult words: trainee (a person who is learning something new), surgery (a procedure to fix a person’s body), continue (to not stop).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What are the potential consequences if the South Korean trainee doctors' protest for better pay and work conditions continues for an extended period of time?
