The Olympic flame is in Italy – level 2

The Olympic flame started its trip in Rome. At a big stadium, the president of the country lit the main fire and spoke about peace. The flame will travel across Italy and arrive in Milan before the Winter Games.
Many famous athletes took part in the first day of the tour. One swimmer gave the torch to two other athletes. Later, a basketball player with a serious illness held the torch, and the crowd showed strong feelings when he walked out of the stadium.
After that, leaders of different sports groups held the torch on the road across Rome. A tennis player also greeted the crowd in a city square. In the evening, another basketball player took the flame near a well-known castle. The tour will then move across all parts of Italy for 63 days.
Difficult words: peace (a time when there is no war and people live calmly), torch (a long stick with fire at one end), crowd (a large group of people).
