The sun is very active – level 1
18-11-2025 15:00
The sun is very hot and very active. It sends big storms into space. These storms move toward Earth. They shake Earth’s magnetic field and make strong energy. This makes the sky light up. People see the northern lights in many places.
The storms also cause problems. Power lines get extra energy. Workers try to keep the system safe. Satellites in the sky need more fuel because the storms pull them down.
GPS and rockets also have problems. GPS is not very correct in strong storms. Scientists look at the storms all the time and try to help people stay safe.
Difficult words: shake (to move something quickly from side to side), magnetic field (a force around Earth or a magnet), power line (a long wire which brings electricity to homes and buildings).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why do satellites in the sky need more fuel during these storms?
