The tech and La Sagrada Familia – level 3

Antoni Gaudí was a famous Spanish architect known for his unique designs inspired by nature.
His most famous project, La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, began in the 1880s and is still not finished. Gaudí designed the church to make people look up and feel close to God. He used special shapes and ruled surfaces in his designs, based on geometry. Although he died before finishing the basilica, he left models and drawings to guide future generations. Gaudí expected new technology to help complete the church. Today, architects use 3D scans, models, and printing to rebuild parts destroyed in the Spanish Civil War and understand Gaudí’s original plans.
Engineers also study wind and earthquake forces to make the structure safe. Another challenge was the original foundations, which were not strong enough for Gaudí’s tall towers. Engineers used a modern method with stone panels and steel cables to solve this. Thanks to these efforts, the basilica is now close to completion and will soon be the tallest church in the world.
Difficult words: geometry (the part of math about shapes and space), basilica (an ancient Roman building), foundations (the base of a building).

What modern techniques help restore war-damaged sections, interpret Gaudí’s original designs, and ensure the structural stability of the basilica?
