The US attacks Venezuela – level 3

06-01-2026 07:00

The US President Donald Trump ordered air strikes on military sites inside Venezuela, including targets in the capital city. US officials confirmed this action.

People in the city reported loud explosions, strong sounds, and shaking homes. Smoke rose above the city, and many residents felt fear and confusion. After the strikes, the city became quiet; however, people continued to contact family and friends to check their safety. The Venezuelan government strongly rejected the attack. Officials said the US wanted oil and other resources. They asked the international community to act and requested a meeting of the Security Council. The government declared a national emergency, but its public message appeared unclear and weak. Military experts said Venezuela had little ability to resist such an attack.

Trump said US forces seized President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and flew them to New York. Maduro faces drug and weapons charges. Trump said the US would control Venezuela for a time and warned about a larger attack if needed.

Difficult words: confusion (a state when people do not understand what is happening), resist (to try to stop or fight against something), seize (to take a person or thing by force).
