Tropical Storm in Africa – level 2

24-04-2019 07:00

Cyclone Idai hit southern Africa more than a month ago, but people are still dying because of it. They say that more than 1,000 people died in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi in the storm’s aftermath.

Thousands of others were injured, and millions more were affected. People are still not sure how much damage was done, but fixing the damage could cost more than $2 billion. People are also worried about diseases. The World Health Organization said that it is going to vaccinate people against cholera.

Difficult words: aftermath (the after-effects of something bad), affect (have a bad effect on somebody or something), damage (breaking something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
