UK Storm – level 1

24-02-2020 07:00

Last weekend, a big storm hits the UK. Wales and Southern England have a lot of problems. There is heavy rain. There is more rain in two days than in the whole month.

Many rivers overflow. The water gets into houses. Thousands of people must leave their homes. They go to a safe place. They must wait for better weather.

Four people die in the storm. The situation is serious. Officials warn people that more floods can come. Officials close many roads. People have problems to travel and to get to work.

Difficult words: whole (all), overflow (when there is too much water and it comes out), flood (a lot of water that comes after heavy rain and it gets into streets or people’s homes.

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
