US snowstorm – level 1

03-01-2023 07:00

A heavy snowstorm hits the US. More than 1.5 million people lose power. The storm brings ice, heavy snow, and strong winds.

Temperatures go as low as -45 degrees Celsius. People use all their fuel. They burn clothes to keep warm.

A very bad situation happens in New York City. Almost all fire trucks are stuck in snow. They cannot help people.

Buffalo is a city near the border with Canada. The storm is the worst in 45 years there. At least 13 people die. They die in their cars and in the snow.

In some areas, the weather gets better. More snow will come later in the week.

Difficult words: temperature (how cold or warm something is), stuck (not able to move), border (a line between two countries).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
