Wolves have better teeth – level 1

02-11-2023 07:00

Red wolves live only in the USA. They are coming back now.

A zoo in Washington helps red wolves. The zoo cares for their teeth. Bad teeth make it hard to eat. There are only about 270 red wolves. Most of them are in zoos. Only 20 wolves live in the wild in North Carolina. The zoo’s vets clean the wolves’ teeth and make sure they are healthy.

Wolves in the zoo live longer because they see the vet regularly. In the past, red wolves live in many places but not anymore. People are working hard to protect them and put them back in the wild.

Difficult words: vet (a doctor for animals), regularly (when something happens every day, month, and so on), protect (to keep safe).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What other steps are being taken to help protect red wolves from becoming extinct?
