The Perth Mint in Western Australia has set a new Guinness World Record by creating the world’s largest gold bar that weighs a massive 521.2 kilograms.

Crafted from Australian gold, the bar achieved a purity level of 99.999 percent, and exceeded the standard 99.99 percent global purity benchmark.

Chief executive Paul Graham called the project a miracle, and said that more than 35 specialists worked on the three-day creation while official Guinness judges monitored every step. The huge bar shatters the previous 300-kilogram record set in Dubai two years ago. While its metal value alone exceeds 100 million dollars, its true worth lies in showing Australia’s advanced refining skills to global markets.

The record-breaking bar, nicknamed the People’s Bar, will soon go on display alongside the Mint’s famous one-tonne gold coin. This achievement highlights Australia’s booming gold sector, with export earnings predicted to reach 60 billion dollars as gold rises to become the nation’s second-largest export.
