Young Europeans and university – level 1
16-09-2025 15:00
A new report shows how many young people in Europe finish university.
Ireland is number one: two out of three young adults aged 25–34 have a degree. Luxembourg has 65% and Lithuania has 58%. Czechia is low with 33%. Hungary and Italy are the lowest with 32%.
Family makes a big difference. In Denmark, 70% of young people with university parents have a degree. Only 49% of young people without such parents have one. In Poland, the gap is bigger: 79% versus 11%.
Studying more helps people in life. With higher education, people can get better jobs and more money, and stay healthier.
Difficult words: degree (a certificate from a university), difference (when something is not the same), education (learning in schools).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Which two countries have the lowest share of 25–34-year-olds with a university degree, and what are their percentages?
