80 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki – level 1

11-08-2025 07:00

It is now 80 years after bombs hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Many people die. 140,000 people die in Hiroshima, and 74,000 people die in Nagasaki.

One man, Shingo Naito, is only six years old when the attack happens. His family gets hurt. His father, little brother, and sister die. Now, Shingo Naito talks to students. The students make pictures about his story. One girl says that it is hard to draw. But she wants other people to understand the pain.

Shingo Naito is worried. He talks about wars today. He says that we must not use nuclear bombs again. The city of Hiroshima now has a message for the world: We want peace.

Difficult words: pain (when something hurts), nuclear (using energy from atoms), peace (no war or fighting).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What message does the city of Hiroshima now send to the world?
