Black Stories – level 1

21-09-2020 07:00

In May, police kill a Black man in the US. This starts some changes in the film business. Many film companies start to focus on Black people more.

Netflix and Disney+ bring more stories about Black people. KweliTV is a streaming company that focuses only on Black artists and films. In the last few months, many people subscribe to KweliTV. The CEO of Kweli is happy. It is good that more people are interested in Black stories.

However, viewers are interested not only in Black people in the US. Many people see the movie ’Black Panther’. The movie is about a fictional African country. People start to be interested in Africa.

Nollywood is in Africa. It is similar to Hollywood in the US and Bollywood in India. However, African films are not so successful in the world. Money is the biggest problem.

Difficult words: focus (to be the center of someone’s activity), subscribe (to pay some money every month and get something for the money), fictional (something that is not real and that exists only in books and movies).
