Canadians don’t buy US products – level 2
24-07-2025 07:00
Many Canadians are angry at the US trade rules. Because of US tariffs and President Trump’s ideas, 71% of Canadians want to buy fewer US goods.
Stores now sell more Canadian products. People even avoid US brands like Coca-Cola unless they are made in Canada. Canada now adds a 25% tax on American alcohol. Wine and beer from the US are disappearing from shelves. Visits from Canadians to the US dropped by 50%, which hurt US border towns. The US may lose 90 billion dollars in 2025.
Europeans also don’t want US products. Tesla sales in Europe dropped 28% because people dislike the company’s boss, Elon Musk. US products are now less popular. Travel to the US from Europe is down, and the US will lose billions because of that. If these problems continue, American products may stay unpopular around the world.
Difficult words: tariff (a tax on things from other countries), avoid (to keep away from or stop oneself from doing something), disappear (to be somewhere where nobody can see a person or thing).

What changes in consumer behavior have Canadian shoppers adopted to avoid purchasing US goods?
