Czechs support their president – level 1
06-02-2026 15:00
Many people protest in Czech cities last weekend. They want to show support for President Petr Pavel. He says no to a new minister after the man shows Nazi things online.
Big crowds meet in Prague. They hold Czech, EU, and Ukrainian flags. The president says that a government minister sends him bad messages. It makes the situation even worse. The nominee says that his action shows bad taste, but not what he really believes. Many people do not agree. They say that he should not get the job.
People also feel angry about prices and politics. The president thanks people for calm meetings. He asks for calm talks. Many people think that Pavel is a good and strong leader.
Difficult words: support (to help or agree with someone), crowd (a large group of people in one place), nominee (a person who may get a job).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What kind of online material did the minister nominee share that led President Pavel to oppose his appointment?
