Iran arrests Narges Mohammadi – level 1
19-12-2025 15:00
Iranian police take Narges Mohammadi. She is a famous woman who fights for rights. She is at a meeting for a lawyer who dies. She is at a meeting where people speak against the government.
Other people are also in the city of Mashhad. Mohammadi has the Nobel Prize in 2023 while she is in prison. People say her arrest is very bad.
Her story shows that people who fight for rights are in danger in Iran. Many lawyers live outside the country. There are many protests in Iran, and the rules are very strict.
Other countries want to help. But Mohammadi is still in prison. Her story shows that speaking against the government is hard. Many people are now strong and speak in front of others or online.
Difficult words: right (what people can have or do), lawyer (a person who helps others with the official rules), danger (a situation where someone is not safe).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What does Mohammadi’s continued imprisonment, despite other countries wanting to help, demonstrate about the risks of speaking against the government?
