Madagascar political crisis – level 1
20-10-2025 15:00
In Madagascar, people protest against President Andry Rajoelina. Many young people want him to leave. Some soldiers help the protesters.
The president hides in a safe place. He stops the national assembly and fires some workers. People do not know who the leader is now.
People want better water and electricity. They want a new leader. People hope that they can vote soon and have a new government. Everyone is worried about what will happen next.
Difficult words: hide (to go somewhere where other people cannot see you), national assembly (a group of people who make laws for a country), fire (to make someone leave their job).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What basic services and governmental changes are protesters in Madagascar calling for?
