Indonesia is a Muslim country. Almost 90% of people are Muslims. Muslims can eat only food which is halal. Islam says what is halal.

Many people in Indonesia have the coronavirus. The situation is serious. Indonesia will get a COVID-19 vaccine from Russia.

Vaccines often have gelatin in them. Gelatin comes from pigs’ skin and bones. Muslims cannot eat pork. Pork is not halal.

More countries make a COVID-19 vaccine. They say that these vaccines do not have gelatin in them. The Russian company does not say anything. Muslims in Indonesia do not know if the Russian vaccine has gelatin in it. A Muslim court in Indonesia must decide if the vaccine is okay for Indonesian people.

Difficult words: Muslim (a person who follows Islam), vaccine (an injection that makes a person strong so he does not get a disease), pork (meat that comes from pigs).
