Syria one year after Assad’s end – level 1
12-12-2025 15:00
One year after Assad leaves, many people in Syria go to Damascus. They take part in big events. They want a better life. The new leader talks to people. Some people worry and do not feel sure about him. Life in many places is still very hard.
In one town, many houses are broken. People do not have the money to build them again. They live in cold, open homes. Food and water cost too much. People feel tired and sad.
Some people come back to Syria, but they do not get help. Many hospitals close. Mothers look for doctors for a long time. People wait for a safe and good life.
Difficult words: event (something what happens, often something people come to see), broken (not whole or not working), hospital (a place where doctors help sick people).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What conditions in one town contribute to residents feeling tired and sad?
