AI toys – level 3

25-12-2025 07:00

AI toys become more common before the holiday season as toy stores offer more talking and learning toys each year.

These toys promise friendship, fun, and help for children by listening and responding to them. Some products act more like companions than toys and aim to give comfort instead of action or movement. Companies present them as helpful for children’s emotions and development.

However, child safety groups raise strong concerns about these AI toys. They warn that rules and research don’t yet protect children enough. Many toys collect personal data, and children often share private thoughts with them. Kids may also take these toys into private places, which increases risk. Past cases show that AI toys can give harmful advice if control systems fail.

Despite these worries, big toy companies continue to invest in AI. Some work with large tech firms to create new products. Even so, experts believe traditional toy characters still matter most to children. Familiar movie toys remain popular, especially with new films coming soon.

Difficult words: companion (a friend that stays with you), comfort (a good feeling that makes you feel safe and calm), concern (a worry about something).
