Ghana stops boxing – level 2
08-10-2025 07:00
Ghana stopped all boxing after two boxers died this year. The government said there will be no fights for at least three months while a new team makes rules to keep boxers safe.
The first man who died was a Nigerian boxer, and the second was a Ghanaian boxer who died after his fight in Accra. The leaders said the break is important to protect people and make the sport safer. They also want to make new long-term plans for better training and control.
Boxing is very popular in Ghana and gave the country famous champions, but now many people want to make sure it is safe for everyone.
Difficult words: long-term (something that lasts for a long time or happens over many years), control (to manage, guide, or direct something so it works the way you want), champion (a person who wins a competition or is the best at a sport or activity).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How long will fights be paused while the new team develops rules to keep boxers safe?
