Help for Sudan – level 1

23-06-2023 15:00

A fight in Sudan causes many problems. Over 2 million people leave their homes.

Khartoum is the capital of Sudan. There is war now. The fighting stops for a little while. But it doesn’t solve the problems. People start stealing things from shops and homes. In a city called El Geneina, people are trying to run away. They get hurt. Police arrest them. An important meeting takes place in Geneva. Some countries promise to help Sudan. They give 1.5 billion dollars. But the money doesn’t arrive in Sudan yet.

It is a very urgent situation. Bad things are happening. Everyone needs help, but not enough people are helping.

Difficult words: steal (to take a thing which belongs to someone else and keep it), promise (to say that you will surely do something), urgent (a problem which a person must solve immediately).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What can be done to help the people of Sudan who are affected by the conflict?
