Studying in a war – level 1
21-11-2025 15:00
Sudan has a war now. It lasts for more than two years.
This war stops many students from going to school. Many schools are in war areas, or people live there. Many students cannot take their exams. Sudan is a very big and very poor country. The war is very bad. Over 150,000 people die, and 12 million people leave their homes. The UN says that it is a big crisis for people. Some students try to study on the internet. But the internet is not good, and it is expensive. Students feel bad because of the war. They lose friends.
Now, some schools in safe places are open again. Also, a UN project helps students in refugee camps learn and study English and IT.
Difficult words: war area (a region, city, or place where fighting happens), poor (having very little money), crisis (a time of trouble or danger), refugee camp (a place where people go to when there is a war or another bad situation).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why have many students been unable to take their exams during the ongoing conflict?
