Solar plane in San Francisco - level 2
A plane which runs on solar energy flew over San Francisco before its first big flight across the USA which is planned in May.
The plane weighs only 3,500 pounds (or 1 588 kg) and its wings measures 208 feet (or 63 metres). Its maximum speed is 43 miles per hour (or 69 kilometres per hour). The plane's surface is covered with solar panels which generate electricity from the sunlight.
On its next big trip next month the plane will travel from San Francisco to New York. It will stop in Phoenix, Dallas and then Atlanta. A flight around the globe is planned for 2015.
Interesting words: cover (be on the whole surface of something), generate (make).
