A car on train tracks – level 2
08-12-2025 15:00
Commuters in the Blue Mountains faced long delays because a car landed on the train tracks near Blaxland. West of Sydney, early in the morning.
Emergency workers arrived soon after and found the car on its roof. The driver got out alone and only had small injuries. Fire and rescue teams worked carefully to remove the car. They worked near strong electric wires above the tracks, so the job needed extra care. The teams tried to make the rail line safe again as soon as they could.
Train services between Springwood and Penrith stopped, so buses started to help people travel. Many passengers felt stressed because their morning plans changed suddenly. The trip took more time, and some people waited without clear information.
Difficult words: remove (to take something away), stressed (feeling worried or under pressure), suddenly (quickly and without warning).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why did fire and rescue teams need extra care while removing the car from the tracks?
