A man dies on a plane – level 2

24-05-2024 07:00

A plane was flying from London to Singapore but it had to land in Bangkok because of strong turbulence.

The Boeing 777 hit an air pocket in Thai airspace. An air pocket is an area where the air is flowing differently. One 73-year-old British man died, probably from a heart attack. Thirty people were hurt, and seven were in serious condition. Many passengers got treatment at the airport, immediately after the landing. One passenger said that the turbulence was very strong. He saw objects flying and people getting hurt. He fastened his seatbelt just in time but some people didn’t.

Experts say that such strong turbulence is rare but sometimes it can happen.

Difficult words: turbulence (a strong movement of air), condition (how someone or something is or feels), treatment (how someone deals with someone or something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What did one passenger witness during the strong turbulence on the flight from London to Singapore?
