A man in Italy wants to stay away from prison. He hides in a Christmas scene. He stays still like a statue.

The mayor sees him and thinks he is a statue. But then the mayor knows it is a real person. The mayor asks him to leave, but the man says it is his home. The police come and see that he is a wanted man. He must go to prison for nine months and 15 days for not listening to a police officer and hurting someone.

The mayor thanks the police. He says that it is good to believe people who keep the town safe. The town has about 15,400 people and is near Lecce.

Difficult words: hide (to go somewhere or stay still so no one can see you), scene (the place where something happens), mayor (the leader of a town or city), wanted (a person the police are looking for).
