Gingerbread NYC – level 2

19-11-2025 07:00

“Gingerbread NYC” takes place at the Museum of the City of New York.

Bakers from all five boroughs join the event and create gingerbread models of famous places in the city. They use the buildings and symbols of New York as inspiration and turn them into fun and detailed edible scenes.

Visitors can see many creations, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Governor’s Island Ferry, the Roosevelt Island tram, and a street scene from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. One baker made the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, and another chose a popular New York food: a bagel with cream cheese.

There is also a gingerbread Broadway stage that shows characters from famous musicals. People can visit the event until January 19 and vote for their favorite creation.

Difficult words: borough (a part of a large city), inspiration (something that gives you a good idea), edible (safe to eat).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Which functional facility did one baker recreate in gingerbread?
