My friends are shocked when I speak English – level 2

This is an inspirational story for people who want to learn English. This could be your story too.
I am on holiday in another country. My friends and I sit down in a nice restaurant with a view of the sea. The people working there speak only English. Luckily, our friend Peter speaks English, so we feel safe. We can trust him to order our food.

Suddenly, Peter’s phone rings. He says, “Sorry,” and tells us that he has to take an important call. He says, “Please order one beer and a steak with potatoes for me.” Then he leaves. The waiter comes, smiles, and gives us the menus. He asks in English what we would like to drink.

It is a quiet moment. We look at each other. Everybody thinks that only Peter speaks English

but I know that this is my moment. I smile, look at the waiter, and say, “Can I have a glass of wine and some water, please?”

Then I ask my friends what they want and tell the waiter their orders.

When the waiter leaves, my friends are surprised. They look at me and can’t believe what happened.

Then one friend asks, “When did you learn English?”

I smile and say, “I started learning some time ago. I use LangoPlay. It’s a game where you learn English through a story. I play every day and learn some new words each time. It really helps.”

There is a short pause. Then another friend says, “Can you show me? Maybe I will try it too.”

I say, “Of course. LangoPlay is easy. You can start for free and play anytime at www.langoplay.com.”

Difficult words: trust (to believe), surprised (a little shocked).

Which game does the narrator play every day to learn new English words?
