Thailand and Cambodia stop fighting – level 2
31-12-2025 07:00
Thailand and Cambodia sign a ceasefire to stop weeks of fighting near their border.
The deal starts at midday and tells both sides to stop moving soldiers and not use planes or air attacks. The conflict began because both countries wanted the same land near the border.
Thailand used air attacks during the fighting. The deal says Thailand will send 18 Cambodian soldiers back home after three days without fighting. Officials signed the deal at the border after military leaders talked for several days. The deal also asks both sides to stop giving false news, respect rules about land mines, talk about the border, and work together to stop crime like online scams.
Earlier ceasefires didn’t work, and fighting started again in December. Many people died, and many people left their homes. Each country said that the other was responsible for the fighting.
Difficult words: ceasefire (an agreement to stop fighting), land mine (a bomb in the ground which explodes when you step on it), scam (a trick on someone).

What condition must be met before Thailand returns 18 Cambodian soldiers to Cambodia?
