VTubers are becoming popular in the UK – level 1

02-10-2025 07:00

In Birmingham, UK, many people go to Vexo, a show for VTubers. A VTuber is a person who uses a cartoon character instead of showing their face. They sing, play games, and talk to fans online.

At the Expo, fans see VTubers on stage and also met them in small rooms. It is like a music concert, but different.

VTubers are very popular in Japan, and now they are growing in the UK too. Many young people find VTubers in 2020 when they stay home during lockdown. This year, more than double the people come to Vexo compared to last year. Fans in the UK also watch three times more VTuber videos online now than before.

Difficult words: cartoon (a drawing which looks like a person or animal), stage (the place where people perform), double (two times more).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What activities do VTubers perform online?
