New Year’s goals – level 3
02-01-2026 15:00
Many people set goals for the new year, but most stop after a short time. Studies show that only a small number of people reach their resolutions.
Psychotherapist Lisa Palmer explains that this often happens because people try to change actions without changing how they think. She says mindset plays a key role in success. When people believe they are capable and worthy, goals feel more possible and less stressful.
Palmer advises people to start with small and realistic steps. Goals should match personal values and life purpose. She explains that motivation grows when people feel supported, sometimes with coaching or professional help. Mistakes will happen, but failure doesn’t mean the goal is lost. Progress comes from standing up again and learning what works better next time.
She also stresses kindness toward oneself. People should accept imperfect days, focus on strengths, and try new methods instead of repeating old habits. Palmer says that positive thinking, health, happiness, and presence in daily life make long-term success easier to achieve.
Difficult words: resolution (a clear decision or promise to change or do something), worthy (good enough to deserve respect, care, or success), progress (slow movement forward or improvement).
